Why does jeep shake

This solution is being questioned as part of a lawsuit in which Jeep Wrangler owners are seeking answers to the issue. Some are calling the steering damper resolution a band-aide. Death wobble has been around even longer than the Jeep Wrangler has been in existence.

From outside the vehicle, it can look very much like a shopping cart with a bad wheel. It will be easily noticed by surrounding traffic and hopefully, they will give some space to anyone caught in the throes of death wobble. This can happen at any speed but is most dangerous when it occurs at highway speeds. The fix comes just two months after Wrangler owners filed a class-action lawsuit against Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Jeep's parent company. The suit alleges FCA knew about the issue; however, the company neither addressed it nor warned buyers about the potential problem.

At the time, FCA would not comment on the pending litigation because it'd not yet been served the lawsuit. The new damper may not be enough to assuage Wrangler owners or those suing the automaker. In the June filing, the suit alleges such fixes are temporary, and the problem could return. Safety advocates as far back as have been clamoring for a closer look at the issue.

There are numerous complaints of violent shaking filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. However, the NHTSA previously indicated it was looking into the problem, and, according to the Detroit Free Press, would update the media once it completed its investigation. Either way, while FCA is offering the fix, it could be sometime before the issue is entirely resolved. What Causes the Death Wobble? Maintain Proper Tire Pressure : Common triggers for the death wobble include over-inflated, under-inflated, or mismatched tire pressures.

To prevent the death wobble from occurring, you should make sure to check your tire pressure regularly and deflate or inflate your tires as necessary. As such, you should inspect your suspension system for any signs of wear and tear to avoid experiencing the dreaded death wobble.

If you notice any bent or broken components, have them replaced immediately. For this reason, you should always make sure that the wheels on your Jeep are in proper alignment.
