First, you need to understand — two options exist to check the number of connected devices to your hotspot. The first option involves checking through the navigation bar, while the other requires using the Setting app. Next, locate the settings app — it has an icon that looks more like a gear.
Upon locating the settings icon, tap on it to navigate to the menu option. Upon seeing it, tap on the Wi-Fi hotspot to see the number of connected devices. Interestingly, once you find out that unknown devices have connected to your hotspot, there is a way you can remove them with ease. One way unauthorized users can gain access to your mobile hotspot is when they have access to your Wi-Fi password.
If, after checking your setup, you find out that several unauthorized users have gained access to your hotspot, the best way to address the issue is to remove the devices. By doing that, every connected device to the hotspot will automatically lose access to your connection. Tether only when you need it, so you can avoid running out of data before the end of the month.
You also do not want your phone to become an open Wi-Fi network, free for anyone to use. Your data allotment could be used up in minutes! For that reason, you want to select a strong password and share it only with people you trust. If you are going to tether for a while, be sure to plug in your phone to charge while the hotspot is turned on.
You will save battery power and data if you turn the hotspot off as soon as you are finished tethering. If you are in a place without a cell phone signal then your phone's hotspot will not connect a device to the Internet.
